Celebration of Life Service on behalf of Mr. Leonard Michael Cosentino

Leonard Michael Cosentino |February 13, 1962 - June 1, 2024

With profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we celebrate the memory of Leonard Michael Cosentino, who met His Savior in Heaven on June 1, 2024, at age 62. He passed peacefully surrounded by his large beloved family after a two-and-a-half-year cancer journey.

Len had a compelling presence that drew people in balanced by an endearing humility and playfulness that brought joy and security to those fortunate to know him. He touched countless lives with his wisdom, generosity, and hospitality, convinced that opening his home and providing a good Italian meal was the best way to love others. His words, whether shared on a stage or his back porch, carried a weight that invited others to listen eagerly because of the love, wisdom, and wit with which he spoke. He used his many gifts to honor God and others, and this is his enduring legacy.

Len grew up in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, with his mother and father, Joanna and Leonard, and his two younger brothers, David and Michael. Len often reminisced about his idyllic childhood with many close friends, fond memories on the sports field, and earning the unofficial title of “studliest stud in Chagrin Falls.” He joyfully maintained those friends and the title throughout his life. He was forever grateful to his parents for their fervent love, support, and vibrant Sunday family dinners - his favorite part of the week where his friends were always welcome.

Graduating from Chagrin Falls High School in 1980, Len went on to Grove City College and then Case Western Reserve Law School. He joined Jones Day, Selman & Company, and then McDonald Hopkins as a corporate attorney until 2006, where he enjoyed his relationships and opportunities. He then transitioned to founder and CEO of Checkpoint Surgical, a role in which he found much joy and purpose pouring into those around him. His influence was warmly welcomed in each environment because of his commitment to excellence, integrity, and service, resulting in a wide-reaching positive impact that will continue on.

He married his high school sweetheart, Renee Walters, in 1982, and they cherished 41 years of marriage. Their seven children, Daniella, Marria, Acacia, Talia, Caleb, Jonathan, and Alexander, benefitted from their united dedication to knowing and loving each one uniquely and fully. All of them inherited from Len a love for family dinners, fair food, and being near one another. The family has welcomed four sons-in-law, (Josh Smith, Samuel Chapin, Frankie Kelly, and Benjamin Schwarz, respectively), and a daughter-in-law, (Karly Bruce), into the family. Len has seven grandchildren with more on the way and many more loved ones in the Cosentino, Cardarelli, Vinci, and Walters families.

Most important to Len was his faith in Jesus and his mission to share the truth and love of Christ. Early in marriage, he and Renee joined Bethel Church where he was intimately involved as a deacon and small group leader. They later joined Christ Community Chapel and became involved with a variety of ministries, including Scranton Road Ministries, where he continued to value opportunities to share his gifts and be blessed by his relationships. He courageously used his cancer diagnosis to further his life mission through CBMC events and personal relationships.

We cherish every life lesson, classic rock sing along, and refreshing beverage we shared with Len and look forward to when we will see him again in Heaven where “The birth, death and resurrection of Jesus means that one day everything sad will come untrue” (J.R.R. Tolkien). Salute, Lenny!

The celebration of Len’s life will be held Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 11 AM, at Christ Community Chapel, 750 W. Streetsboro Street, Hudson, OH 44236. Len’s wish was that loved ones prioritize being present at his service in order to be blessed by the message that will be shared. If unable to attend, the service will be live-streamed. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024, at Christ Community Chapel, from 4 - 7 PM. All are welcome to join in celebrating his remarkable life.

Donations may be made to Scranton Road Ministries, P.O. Box 609007, Cleveland, Ohio 44109, in Len’s memory. (scrantonroadministries.org)
